We are living in an era where everyone wants to make up our minds, do you notice it? We can see it everywhere. The problem starts when negative and doubtful messages reach the subconscious mind. You start thinking that you are not good enough. It doesn’t matter how much you have or how high your achievements are, you still feel a void or a gap deep inside. Mindset and relationships are very common causes of stress, besides the workplace.
There are so many voices out there trying to convince you what is best for you. Yet, where is your own voice? I truly believe the answers reside within. Over time you lose contact with yourself and begin to wear a mask to be accepted in the society you live in. The demands are incredibly high! You feel disconnected from people and nature, lonely and abandoned, which generates an enormous amount of stress (distress) and anxiety. Researchers say that loneliness and social isolation are major risk factors for premature death. According to Koopsen & Young, 90% of the health issues reported by patients are stress-related diseases. Stress also can cause or be caused by undesired habits such as over-consuming food, alcohol, smoking, medication, sex, work, internet, shopping, and so on. People reported having a meaningless life, with no time for self-care. But if you don’t take care of yourself, who will do it? I am used to saying that we can’t give what we don’t have. How would you give time for someone if you don’t have any for yourself? How would you give love to someone if you don’t cultivate self-love? When it happens the result is distress, which is more commonly known as stress.
A holistic approach to stress encompasses the mind-body-spirit connection. Stress is part of life. A certain amount of stress is beneficial, it motivates us for whatever we need to do. This kind of stress is called eustress. The problem is when it becomes distress and even worse when it becomes a chronic condition, which affects the whole person: body, mind, emotions, and spirit.
The combination of resolution-oriented behavioral change through hypnosis and restorative yoga is an excellent approach to reduce and manage stress and its side-effects. It helps people to reinvent themselves and change their lifestyle. Did you know that 90% of our behaviors are dictated by the subconscious mind? Hypnosis is the bridge to the subconscious mind!
